Your Tutor

Julian Diaz

Hello! My name is Julián. I'm an Organic, General, Inorganic, and Organometallic Chemistry tutor, with a focus on college and upper high school students. I enjoy cycling, chess, and reading contemporary fiction as my main hobbies.

I studied Chemistry at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and have taken at least 7 courses related to Organic Chemistry at the graduate and undergraduate level. I specialize in teaching the Chem 210 / Chem 215 sequence at UMich as well as the Chem 3A / Chem 3B Sequence at UC Berkeley, due to the challenging nature of that course and my familiarity with it.

Additionally, I've successfully worked with students from many different programs including Berkeley, Cornell, NYU, Columbia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, and many others. This experiential breadth has prepared me to be an instructor that can quickly evaluate issues in my students’ conceptual understanding and provide the necessary feedback that will enable them to confidently approach a complex question in an exam situation.

I've done my absolute best to turn my sessions into something that my students really look up to and I hope that I can be of great help if you decide to have me as your tutor. My main lemma is "All students are exceptional" and I hope to bring out the best in every single one of you and make you feel special and uniquely capable.
